Investigations into the dancing taggers...

Police investigations have been launched after a Whangarei couple forced two teenage males - who they suspected of tagging their fence - to dance.

Investigations have been launched after an incident in Whangarei where a couple forced two teenage males - who they suspected of tagging their fence - to dance.



The couple tracked down the young people and told them to dance while they waited for police, posting a 10 minute video on YouTube.



Police first on the scene laughed, took photos and called more officers to watch the performance.



Whangarei police say investigations have been launched into the conduct of the couple and the police who attended.



One of the alleged taggers is charged with willful damage

Search for missing Kiwi four year old continues...







A young four year old boy, Lucas Ward, who apparently wandered away from his grandmother's home in Kaiti, Gisborne, on New Zealand's east coast, still hasn't been found after four days. his bike has been found close to the river.







Police divers have been searching in the local river for the youngster, described as a little extrovert who may have just been a little boy exploring new territory, or had tried to walk home to his father's home.







His extended family has been assisting the search and are now becoming deeply concerned for their young family member, a little blonde headed Lucas Ward. Prayers are now being said for the youngster. The changeable springtime weather making conditions wet and cold. The little boy was dressed in sweat shirt and track pants - hardly suitable in the conditions.





Some of you readers who are old enough will remember the search in the north American wilderness many decades ago for the 'little boy lost', and later the song written about him. I have a grandson the same age as Lucas Ward, and my heart goes out to his parents, grandparents and extended family whose hearts are now breaking. So many thanks to the Gisborne community who are assisting the police and family in the search for Lucas. I hope they find the little boy alive!

Legislation to remove eligibility for parole for the worst repeat violent offenders has passed through parliament, 63 votes to 58



The controversial three strikes legislation has passed through parliament, 63 votes to 58.



It removes eligibility for parole for the worst repeat violent offenders and imposes maximum terms of imprisonment for people who repeatedly commit crimes.



Police Minister Judith Collins says it ensures the worst repeat violent criminals have less chance to re-offend and sends a message that parole is a privilege, not a right.



Forty serious offences have been named that are punishable by a maximum of seven years prison or more.



There has been much opposition to the bill, with Labour, the Greens and the Maori Party all saying it will do nothing to stop offending.


Who are the worst offenders:  the criminals out there or those ratbags on the government benches?
